Hello, my name is Christo, and I'm addicted to aquariums!
So I'm from madison and currently have 1 salt water and two fresh water tanks. The saltwater is the oldest and has been up and running for about 4 or 5 years now I think. We've had our ups and downs but I'm not giving up on it yet. I had a beautiful tank for most of that time with FOWLR. I've never had a problem except once when i went on vaccation to Europe and left my dad in charge of taking care of them. I don't know how he did it, but he topped off the tank and somehow killed every fish in the tank with the exception of a blue hippo. I was so soo upset but i tried again and this crew has been going strong with the exception of one blennie who did under suspicious circumstances, one clown who got crushed by a falling rock, and one small puffer who i found on the floor days later May they RIP. Besides those few small instances everything was great until one sad day that will live in my mind forever, when i decided i wanted to do corals and so therefore bought 3 of the "beginners" corals and put them in the tank.... a few days later my tank has all these little things popping up in it. Can you guess what they were? That's right..... Aiptasia. I have since struggled and struggled with it but I think it has finally won. The tank is like a breeding ground for them and nothing i do seems to work. With this started a downward spiral for us. I started to dispise my tank and started neglecting it more and more and dispising it more and more which just fed on its self. So I have gotten another tank that i'm going to set up let cycle and then transfer all my fish into which will let me tear down my current tank and completely clean and rid myself of the nasty bastards once and for all!!! muhahahah (pardon the language there) I want to fall in love with it again like i once was and i hope this is the step i need to make it happen. Lesson of this story.... QUARANTINE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! I learned that a little to late... you don't have to
So enough about my problems lol.... here i am new guy! :
So my current set up is a 90gallon tank drilled with a diy 30 or 40 gallon sump down below..
the temp tank will be a 75 gallon drilled with either a diy 20 gallon sump or the wet/dry sump that came with it... i haven't decieded yet.
Also have an 80 gallon fw with tropicals and a 55 gallon fw with african chiclids.
So nice to meet everyone in advance .. i'd post pics but i'm to ashamed
