I believe it is time for me to purchase and install a protein skimmer in my 75 gallon reef tank. I would like to put it in the 20 gallon sump. My problem is that there are way too many choices out there. Should I get one rated for over 75 gallons or just below? Really not sure if an inexpensive Coralife is all I need or a more expensive like the Reef Octopus...
Some that I have reviewed: > Reef Octopus Diablo Extreme XS160 - $325 > Super Reef Octopus 1000 - $320 > Coralife Super Skimmer Needle Wheel 125 - $150

The more the marrier! You can't have too much filtration, the reef octopus brands are initially more expensive but are a better built product imo!
