Finally working on my reef build again and decided to do a spray foam/concrete background. Gonna kinda let the pics do most of the talking but if y'all have any questions let me know. This is the main idea I started with. Drawn out full scale. Used egg crate (light diffuser from home depot) to have a base to start with. Great Stuff is non-toxic once dry. After the first can of foam. Second piece after first can of foam. Second can of foam. Second piece after second can. The two pieces after a little shaping. I used a steak knife and tweezers to put a little texture. I didn't like the bubble look of the foam on its on so I made a couple caves and ledges for corals to sit on...eventually. This is how far I've gotten so for. Second coat of concrete is drying as i type this. After the concrete drys I'll do one last coat of concrete. After concrete dries a couple days it will get coated with Drylok masonry waterproofer paint. I may do a little spay paint misting after just for a little color. I hear Krylon Fusion is safe once dry. The background will then be siliconed into the tank permanently and cycled for a couple weeks making sure nothing harmful leaks out. Gonna be a while before I can do anything else but I will keep taking pictures as I finish this project and post them eventually.
