Hello everyone. I'm getting ready to start a new tank and want to get quality equipment that will really last. I need input on lights pumps and skimmer. Let me know which you think is the best.

We need more info, what type of lighting do you want to use? How big is the tank and how far is the pump going to be pumping? Is it an internal pump or external? For skimmers.. Is it also going to be internal or external? Are you going to have a sump? What are you planning on using for powerheads?

I'm doing a 150 (60*24*24) reef tank with a 75 gallon sump the sump will have 3 compartments. First one will have skimmer. Second one will have return pump and third one will act as a top off tank. The return pump will have to push 10 feet. I want to do lps softies and some sps ( Monticello caps). I Would like some thoughts on leds return pumps internal skimmers as well wave makers. I will be using a coast to coast overflow with a drain on each end and I will be using the herbie method for drainage. Other than that I have no other ideas set in stone. Any advice or ideas would be helpful and welcome

Iwaki pressure rated pump (will find specific pump to meet your needs later) Reef octopus skimmer has great reviews 2 mp40s just for the simple fact that there customer service and products are excellent I don't have much input to LEDs as I'm a MH guy

Thanks Trevor. I picked up a sro 3000 and will probably try the Mp 40's thinking about going with t5 lighting instead of led just Bc my lps really respond and look great under them.

Also instead of mp40s check out wp40, there a new pump from jebao, yes it's Chinese and nobody has had them long enough to test longevity but people on Reefcentral have been using them for months with no issues, and at $100 each shipped to your door... May not be a bad trial, There like ecotechs mp as there controllable but the have a knockoff design of a tunze with a max flow of 10000 lph.
And can't go wrong with T5s or MH

I have panworld 100pxx , the guy who designed it was at iwaki. Has been a solid pump for 5 years. Mp40 has been great , easy for little bearings or whatever( bought used and repaired for $80) Orephek pendants have done great with all my corals , I don't supplement the lighting with anything Charles that tank is really gonna be nice , I'm liking that sump also :-)
