I got buckets and we can mix it in a garbage can here , I got a pump to fill the 5 gallon buckets after it mixes overnight. I'll get you couple cups of love sand and cheats and you'll be on your way. No I'm not selling anything, it will just make it much easier for you to get it going that way:-)

This is the best way I know to make happen what we're trying to do here, and I'm making new friends ;-), but he has to be nice about my tank and look at pictures of my gran kids while we work lol |

Water is in with a HUGE thank you to Reese!!! Picked up the sand at Jackson Fish and Coral. The overflow seems to be running alot more silent now. Maybe it just needed salt water. We moved it into the den area of the house thanks to my wife seeing Reese's amazing 100 gallon tank in his den. More to come soon. Got to boil some rocks and get the light on it.  |

Where is it coming from? Tank or sump? Overflow box on the tank. I was watching it and when the overflow box had water in it there was not noise at all then all of a sudden the water drops down in it and the gurgling starts. Not sure if I need to add water but I only could add about a half a gallon to be full. |

Also this is causing alot of bubbles to make it to the return pump and of course causing lots of micro-bubbles in the tank itself.

Is there a hole in the 90 that connects to the bulkhead outside the tank? See the picture in this thread of the 90 coming out of the tank. There is a small tube coming out the top of it and it does not connect to anything. |

From the pics it doesn't look like there is a 90 in the overflow box, if there isn't what you need to do is crank you return pump OR slow the drain VIA valve so that air never gets into the bulkhead like this.  Or just slow the return so water only goes up half the bulkhead like this  Either way will work but you will need to incorporate a valve into either or, I would do the drain so you can run your return at 100% |

Maybe I am confused. Basically I need more water in my overflow box to cover the pipe? Or add an elbow inside the overflow box pointing up?
